Now more than ever we need the arts. Drama is a vital tool in developing the imagination of young people and in helping them to understand the world we live in.
If you believe in the importance of drama in stimulating and engaging the imagination of young and not so young, this is the course for you. For many years now Russell Academy has had an outstanding record in training drama teachers. We are passionate about the role that drama can play in the lives of children and adults.
Join us for an engaging, educational and enjoyable year studying for either an Associate or Licentiate Diploma in Speech and Drama teaching. Given the current situation and with the safety of our students and teachers of the utmost priority, we will be conducting lectures for the pre-Christmas period via Zoom.
Students will explore:
- Practical techniques for stimulating creativity in children and adults -
- All aspect of theory of speech -
- Teaching methods including class planning, motivation and encouragement, choice of material -
- Theatre history and principal dramatists, poetry and poets, and plays suitable for all age groups -
- Performance theory and techniques.
Our graduates are teaching throughout Ireland both privately and in schools and colleges.
The course is part-time, with regular evening classes and some weekend sessions.
